There has been a lot of discussion about the new GDPR coming into effect from 25 May 2018, a lot of which will will probably not affect Australian-based web businesses (in much the same way as the European "cookie laws" also have no impact on us here in Australia). If, however, people here are concerned or interested in what's happening in Europe as far as personal privacy is concerned, they're invited to see how the Joomla project is responding to these matters.

In any case, Australian-based web businesses are subject to Australian privacy law and web developers should factor those requirements in designing websites that are primarily targeted at Australian users/consumers. The GDPR is not a substitute for Australian privacy/consumer law.
