I've noticed once I set an article status to Archived that when I do a search for that article on the frontend through the search module that the article is not found.

How can I get archived articles to still show in the search list?

Thanks,
littleET

Assuming you're using the original version of the search function (not the new Smart Search function, which is a whole lot better but more complex to drive), open the Search - Content plugin in Plugin Manager. You will see an option to include Archived Articles in the search scope.

Hi Russell,

The site is actually using the Smart Search function.

I've drawn a blank. There are a number of forum posts about issues with Smart Search, so possibly there are related bugs.

However, I did some tests on my own system and archived articles get indexed by default. By contrast with your problem, if I want to exclude archived articles from Smart Search then I have to unpublish them from the search index (as per this report and this discussion).

I guess you've purged the index and rebuilt it already (as well as clearing your caches). Sorry, I don't have an answer after all.

Cheers,

Russell

Ahhh! When you mentioned about purging the index I realised that the pages weren't indexed because I was actually working on a duplicate/subdomain test site as I was testing an extension to auto archive articles after expiration.

I indexed the pages and all is good so my mistake.

Thanks for your help Russell you have helped me.

Cheers.
