Hi guys,

I am doing up a club website and was wanting to give the President access to ACYmail in the backend. I've set all the permissions so that it is the only component they can access but what I would love to do is have them go straight into the ACY interface without having to click the component on the Admin menu bar.

I thought it would be easy but perhaps i am missing something.

Cheers

Cameron

It should be pretty easy to achieve once Joomla 3.7 is released, as it has a new features of backend menu manager. I'm thinking you'll be able to just set that component as the default menu item.

In the meantime with Joomla 3.6.5, what I normally do in this scenario is create a simple admin module with an icon to click. You could probably get by with a custom HTML module assigned to the cpanel module position.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for that. Will work up an admin module and keep an eye out for 3.7.

Just tried in Joomla 3.7, can't set a default menu on the admin menu that you create, so thats a no go,

You have to hook it in to the login process. Create a plugin for admin. Make it ACL controlled so you can redirect users of different access levels to different parts of the admin if needed.
