Australian Joomla User Group News
Today a major security fix was released for all versions of Joomla. If you are running Joomla 3.4.5 or earlier, upgrade to 3.4.6 as soon as you can.
There have already been reports of sites being exploited since Saturday http://arstechnica.com/security/2015/12/hackers-actively-exploit-critical-vulnerability-in-sites-running-joomla/
This is a security release, and site administrators should look to upgrade as soon as practical.
Note that Joomla Version 1.5 and Joomla Version 2.5 have reached end of life so if you are using either of these you should also upgrade.
Even thought Joomla 1.5 and 2.5 are 'end of life', the Joomla security team has provided a patch for this serious issue.
Be aware that Joomla 1.5 and Joomla 2.5 users will need to to replace the files manually via FTP.
