sjug logo This month we have a special guest presenter (via Skype) Michael Russell from the Canberra JUG, who is part of the team that develop Kunena, one of the most popular forum extensions for Joomla.

Topic: Web-based discussion forums: using an old idea to energise and grow your Joomla website

Why do we build websites? The very reasons that we build websites should determine how we construct them in order to achieve the objectives and outcomes from our webcraft. This talk if for those who are looking for ways to empower ordinary people to enrich your site while, at the same time controlling what content will be added and how it will be organised, that is:

  • easily recognisable, intuitively understood, easy to use
  • safe, reliable, robust, secure
  • flexible/extensible and scalable
  • supported/"future-proofed"
  • low-cost/"disposable" technology

This will be followed by our usual Pizza & Beer, then general Q&A session where you can ask the group whatever you like.

All welcome. Follow @sydjug on Twitter for SJUG updates or register your attendance here.
